Transforming a Dark, Divided Space into a Light-Filled, Modern Office

Urban Fitouts was engaged by the building owners to design a commercial office space for lease at Level 13, 179 North Quay, Brisbane City. The goal was to create a functional, modern workplace that would appeal to potential tenants by maximising space, light, and usability.

The existing office layout was dark and enclosed, with offices positioned in the middle of the space, blocking natural light from flowing through. The challenge was to reimagine the space to feel open, inviting, and flexible for future tenants while maintaining a professional and polished aesthetic.

Urban Fitouts reconfigured the layout, removing central walls and shifting offices to the perimeter. This strategic change opened up the space, allowing natural light to filter through both the front and back areas of the tenancy.

Key design features included:

• A client tea station for added convenience
• A striking timber feature reception desk complemented by an LED strip pendant light
• Feature lighting to enhance the entryway, meeting rooms, and boardroom
• A thoughtfully designed open-plan layout to maximise workspace flexibility

To create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, a palette of soft green and timber tones was introduced, enhancing the natural light and bringing a sense of calm to the office.

The transformation resulted in a bright, spacious, and modern office environment designed to attract tenants. By removing barriers and optimising natural light, the space now feels open, airy, and adaptable—an ideal setting for businesses seeking a premium office location in Brisbane City.
